DEATH's CHUCK SCHULDINER Honored At 'Golden Gods: The History Of Heavy Metal' Exhibition
April 13, 2012Eric Greif, the former manager of DEATH and president of Perseverance Holdings Ltd., which manages Chuck Schuldiner's (DEATH, CONTROL DENIED) legacy, was interviewed at the DEATH/Schuldiner portion of the Golden Gods: The History Of Heavy Metal exhibition, which opened on April 11 at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles, California. Through rare artifacts from iconic metal bands and interactive experiences, the exhibit teaches visitors about the origins of heavy metal, its many subgenres, the bands that made heavy metal famous and offers a look into the controversy that has surrounded the genre for the past four decades.
Launching on the same day as the Revolver Golden Gods award show taking place next door at Club Nokia at L.A. Live, this is the first major museum exhibition to explore heavy metal in America, and the genre's impact across the globe. Visitors can enjoy a wide-array of items, including:
* Handwritten lyrics and sketches from MOTÖRHEAD's Lemmy Kilmister;
* Several wardrobe pieces, from acts like BLACK SABBATH and GWAR;
* Stage props from bands such as Alice Cooper, IRON MAIDEN, SLAYER and more;
* An interactive "scream booth," designed to introduce metal vocal technique;
* Several famous guitars including Chuck Schuldiner's (DEATH) B.C. Rich Stealth;
* Concert posters, tour books and fan memorabilia
Exhibit runs until February 2013.
Chuck died on December 13, 2001 after a battle with pontine glioma, a rare type of brain tumor.
